The Best 10 Things I Look Forward to on Thanksgiving

Every year Thanksgiving appears on the fourth Thursday of every calendar month. It some how sneaks up on me every year even though I have the date. It is the time of the year, when all the leaves have fallen and the nip in the air hints that snow in our near future. I associate many things with Thanksgiving.

Here is the Best Ten Things I look forward to on Thanksgiving

  • Black Friday Ads – I like to plan and pray how I am going to buy all the cool products on sale in the advertisements from my favorite retailers. This year, the retailers ruined the sales by starting them Thanksgiving night. I wont be shopping til Friday morning. Screw you Door buster Sales!

  • Turkey – Whether you turkey is baked in an oven or deep fried. Turkey is a staple of Thanksgiving dating back to the pilgrims. I like to eat tons of dark meat.

  • Dinner sides – You can not cook turkey without awesome sides. I like to devour tons of stuffing with raisins and mushrooms.

  • Pumpkin Pie – No Thanksgiving dinner is complete without pumpkin pie at the end of the meal. There is always some room for a piece of pie with cool whip.

  • Family – Love them or hate them you can't pick your family. You get to spend time with them and talk about how things are going in their lives. This year I wont be seeing much of them.

  • Football  -- Whether it's NFL or College football, football is a staple for every Thanksgiving Day. You get to watch Green Bay vs. Detroit, Miami vs. Dallas or San Francisco vs. Baltimore play on national TV while feeling fat and happy.

  • Being Stuffed – I normally hate feeling stuffed like a pig. But on this day you are just as content to sit back and relax. Its OK to take a nap during the football game.

  • Christmas List time – While reading the ads, I get to formulate a wish list of items I would like others to buy me for Christmas. Sometimes I make a list of items that I will by myself.

  • Cartoons – I miss the days of watching Charlie Brown and other cartoons on Thanksgiving. I can remember watching Charlotte's Web and watching the Hobbit. I doubt they have been on TV in years.

  • Parades – No matter if it is the Macy’s Thanksgiving, Disney or local Philly Parade its a staple on Thanksgiving. Its nice to see the giant balloons crash into buildings in New York. The best part of the parades is when Santa comes in on his sleigh.

Thanksgiving is one of the best American holidays ever. It has different meanings for everyone. Everyone is thankful for different things. I am thankful most of all for the good things in life. I am also thankful for my twitter friend Chris "W33z" from Riverbend PC , who reads my articles to make sure they are coherent and make sense before I publish them.

What are you thankful for on Thanksgiving? Do you agree with anything on my list?
